FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF NOVEL INSITU GEL SYSTEM IN THE MANAGEMENT OF RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Objective: To develop in-situ gel formulations of Lornoxicam for sustained release to reduce the dosing frequency in treatment rheumatoid arthritis. Methods: The method ion-sensitive formation was used this study. situ were prepared by varying concentrations sodium alginate as a bio-degradable gel-forming polymer, CaCl2 cross-linking agent, and chitosan, HPMCK4, HPMCK15, guar gum, gellan xanthan pectin drug rate controlling polymers. F11-F18 assessed physical appearance, pH, vitro release, viscosity, gelling capacity, content. FTIR, DSC, vivo kinetics studies conducted lornoxicam pure optimized formulation. Results: Formulations showed an optimum viscosity that will allow ease administration swallowing. All shown pH between 6.7 7.3, floating lag time 2-3 sec floated 12 h. In vitro, reporting commercial formulation released 99.92% 8 h, F11 99.52% over h extended period. FTIR revealed no interaction drugs excipients used. results kinetic are approving better performance Cmax, Tmax, t1/2, AUC values confirming same thing. Conclusion: oral containing chitosan polymer is promising approach arthritis convenient dosage form with patient compliance therapeutic response.
